Have questions?  Great. So did we in the beginning

Sterilised tampons is a topic to talk about. Hopefully we've covered most of your concerns in the list of answers below. But if you'd like to know more please feel free to email us and we'll get back to you as soon as we can

How is Pureste sterilised?

All Pureste products are sterilised in the same process that almost all medical equipment goes through such as surgical sutures, bandages, dressings, surgical blades, and needles.

Is the packaging tamper proof?

Yes. The products are security sealed at point of manufacture.

What is TSS?

Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS) is an illness caused by bacteria which can occur in any human, however occurs mostly in menstruating women who are using high absorbency tampons. The main cause of TSS is a bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus. It is thought the bacteria produces toxins (poisons) which cause the symptoms of TSS. The symptoms of TSS may develop very quickly. Early recognition and treatment of these symptoms can usually prevent any serious illness from occurring. Always follow the directions in the instructions for use leaflet that is provided in every pack of tampons.

Does sterility in tampons affect the risk of TSS?

There is no known relationship between the acceptable levels of bacteria found in unsterilised tampons and TSS.

Australian Standards allow for a very small amount of aerobic bacteria and fungi to be present in tampons. We at Pureste deliver a product with 0 microbial content.

Why don’t the g-string liners have wings?

The g-string liners don’t have wings in the traditional sense, however they do have small fold back flaps on the tail end in keeping with the g-string design and to hold the liners firmly in place.
